Cannabis use has been traced as far back as the 3rd Millennium BC, and throughout the years it has been used for recreational, medicinal and religious reasons.

A study asking who had ever tried marijuana came up with figures such as, for the ages between 18 and 25, 51.3% had used it at least once, then with the ages between 26 to 34, the figure stands at 49.8%, and it seems to be much higher in the 35 to 49 year old age group, rising to 53.1%. This equates to a massive 95 million people who have actually tried marijuana.

  For many people, trying it once is enough, a lot of people don’t like the affect it has and pass it up each time it is offered. 

  For others, they enjoy the affects, and maybe start to enjoy smoking it recreationally to relax, or unwind. 

  But for many it turns into an addiction, and one that can have quite a grip on their lives. 

  The possible reason for so many people having tried marijuana, is that even though it is illegal it is readily available. 

  People who smoke marijuana to excess, can start to find it stops being fun for many. 

  They may even start to smoke or get high alone, taking the social aspect out of it.

If you want to know how to stop smoking weed and you know you have a serious problem with quitting (or staying quit!) then you may need a few mental tricks that can help you not only fight the cravings but can eventually move your entire paradigm of thinking to that of a non-pot smoker.

Sounds too good to be true? Well only using these mental tricks will not get you the whole way but they are a great addiction to the war chest you can create to fight your addiction and be free of Marijuana for good!

Quitting Weed Tips

  1. Repetition – This may sound stupid but we all learn by repetition and we can all change how we think by repetition. There is a saying that a lie told often enough will become a truth and even if you feel that being free of pot may be a lie if you repeat it often enough you can change the way you think. Find a quite place with no interruptions every day and find a few phrases that are how you WANT to think such as “I am in total control of my smoking, I do not need to smoke today nor ever!”, make sure you are completely relaxed and say this to yourself over and over again for quite a few minutes. Not only is this relaxing but it is a kind of meditation and self hypnosis that can imprint those phrases into your subconscious.
  2. Elastic Band Therapy – Again this may seem odd but this has been proven to be effective for many smokers looking to quit marijuana and cigarettes. Wear an elastic band around your wrist all the time and when you start thinking thoughts about smoking and the cravings start pull on that elastic band and snap it back with enough force to cause some pain. No I am not a sadist! What this does is it creates a pavlovian response within your mind that links thoughts of smoking pot with pain and so you will start to avoid thinking those thoughts and they will be moved to the ’stuff to be avoided’ folder in your brain.

“A life of reaction is a life of slavery, intellectually and spiritually. One must fight for a life of action, not reaction.” This phrase or philosophy was coined by the writer Rita Mae Brown and has many meanings and applications to those who need tips to stop smoking pot.

Reaction is all about being pushed before you can take control of a situation and your life. How much control do you have over your pot smoking and your life that revolves around it? How often are you forced into taking an action often that you did not want to take? How often do you smoke marijuana in response to something event happening in your life?

This reaction prevents the one thing you need to quit pot which is the ability to act out your plan and achieve your goals on your own terms which is a freedom of your intellect, your soul and a freedom from smoking weed if you choose it to be.

This is not always an easy path to follow but the negative consequences for not embracing a life of action can be terrible. Not only will it make it difficult to stop going back to marijuana but it puts you in that slave mentality that is life destroying where you believe that everything is out of your control due to fate or society and so on and you become a victim and in turn a slave to your release; marijuana.

It is all very well to just say ACT and it will be done however so before you even try to do such things you will need to have a clear plan of action written down. This is the first action that will lead to many more as you plan, then act on it. Achieve a result then plan and act again to new challenges until you not only stop smoking pot but will also change your thinking to be positive and free of the slavery of reaction.
